Eurofiber Unveils Private 5G Offering with Nokia at MWC 2024

MWC 2024 - NokiaAt the 2024 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Eurofiber and Nokia have announced a collaboration to provide Mobile Private Network (MPN) services, also known as Private 5G. With this move, private mobile services are now part of Eurofiber’s open digital infrastructure, which is already available across its own proprietary fiberoptic network.

Eurofiber’s fiber-optic network is 70,500 km long, offering an extensive network in the Netherlands, Belgium and France and extending into Germany.

By using the current fiber network and a private connection, mobile private networks do not need complicated IT integration at the customer location. Rather, this is managed inside the Eurofiber network and is efficiently assisted by radio access solutions and Nokia Modular Private Wireless (MPW). Businesses and organizations may increase their efficiency further with the help of this innovative service.

Eurofiber embraces a vision of achieving success through close collaboration. Accordingly, I am delighted to have Nokia partnering with us for MPN as well. This enables us to offer a significant extension of our fiber and cloud connectivity for business customers handling operations-critical traffic,” said Paul Naastepad, Managing Director at Eurofiber Netherlands. “MPN offers an additional option for even more flexibility and security in transporting data within the company, along with seamless connectivity to the outside world or into the cloud.”

Transportable Private Network

Also known as Private 5G, MPN offers a highly secure network on a separate, protected frequency, according to Eurofiber. This wireless connection with minimal interference would be a good fit for assisting with daily company activities. In mission- and/or business-critical settings, such as wireless networks for large industrial complexes and campuses, MPN is a trend that is becoming more and more significant, added Eurofiber. Organizations that prioritize security and smooth, reliable wireless data availability are the most likely customers for Eurofiber’s new service. With this new Private 5G service, clients would find it easier to access new application-based use cases.

The new mobile network service from Eurofiber is aimed at satisfying the strictest security requirements, much as its fixed network services, which also need continuous availability. Strategic partnerships are essential to the operation of Eurofiber’s open digital infrastructure, and MPN is no different: cooperating with operators, resellers, and/or end users directly would continue to be crucial.

“The importance of robust Private Networks in supporting operational and business infrastructure cannot be understated. Our collaboration with Eurofiber will enhance private network offering in the region, build upon existing infrastructure and enabling future digitalization,” said Stephan Litjens, Vice President of Nokia Enterprise Campus Edge Solutions. “We are extremely excited to embark on this journey with Eurofiber and look forward to helping them as they continue to simplify the complexity in current private 5G network systems.”

Available Soon

With the launch of its new Private 5G service, Eurofiber aims to keep up its provision of new solutions via its fixed fiberoptic network. Implementation and market launch may get underway really quickly. It is anticipated that Eurofiber’s new Mobile Private Network service would launch in the middle of 2024.

Together, Nokia and Eurofiber have previously collaborated in a number of ways, most notably on the most recent extension and improvement of Eurofiber’s fiber network across France and Belgium.
