BlueCat Advances Network Infra with New DDI and Security Features

BlueCat Networks teamBlueCat Networks, a supplier of core services for network infrastructure automation, administration, and security, has made additional features available throughout its enlarged offering. BlueCat Networks’ Integrity software introduces advanced DDI capabilities: new DNS record types, dynamic DHCP, resilient multi-primary DNS, sophisticated APIs, and Quick Service Application for simplified tasks with role-based access, elevating network efficiency and reliability for enterprises.

According to BlueCat Networks, Network modernization is built upon the foundations of DNS, DHCP, and IP address management, or DDI. When combined, they would guarantee that users may access network resources and apps on any device, on any location, including cloud or on-premises. BlueCat Networks’ Integrity software is a comprehensive platform for managing DDI software and hardware that has been successfully implemented at large scale for the most demanding corporate clients.

Integrity’s latest release would enhance client and application response times by supporting additional DNS record types. Deploying dynamic DHCP reservations also expedites automation. Because multi-primary DNS systems are now flexible and redundant, enterprises can ensure that their networks will keep operating even in the event of a failure. Integrity also provides advanced API options to improve integration with third-party applications (such as ServiceNow or Terraform).

Additionally, Quick Service, a new Adaptive Application for Integrity, would simplify everyday tasks for network users who are unfamiliar with DDI. Network administrators can reduce the likelihood of unauthorized access to the DDI platform while still permitting some users to complete important DDI tasks on time by activating role-based access restriction. A subzone, host record, or alias record, for example, can be introduced by specific users without being removed.

Security and Management of Multicloud Networks

An intelligent DNS resolver and cache layer, BlueCat’s Edge provides users with the ability to get insight and control over DNS traffic hosted in any environment. With the assistance of Edge and DNS data, security teams are able to identify and protect against attacks on the network that involve domain construction algorithms, DNS tunneling, and DNS hijacking.

Edge now offers platform support for Nutanix and has improved support for all BlueCat hardware server models when operating in a standalone service mode. Customers who want to avoid being locked into a single vendor for their virtual or hyperconverged platforms have more options available to them thanks to BlueCat’s support for Nutanix for their systems.

Network Orchestration, IP Address Management

Micetro, which was acquired from Men&Mice in 2023, now provides BlueCat clients a solution for network orchestration and IP address management – to be utilized by enterprises that require an overlay with their existing DNS and DHCP infrastructure. The most recent release of Micetro would strengthen support for third-party DNS and DHCP solutions by delivering flexible deployment and management control in order to ensure that the network remains operational.

Dedicated appliances can also be combined with Micetro as an additional option. Because of this, administrators are able to extend their Micetro system with the strength and dependability of a DNS/DHCP appliance that was purpose-built for it.

Network Observability and Health

Issues in network firewalls and DDI environment can be predicted, identified, and auto-triaged with the help of BlueCat Infrastructure Assurance, functionality that’s the result of BlueCat’s acquisition of Indeni. With the purpose of proactively alerting network and security teams and providing recommended actionable remedial procedures, it codifies problem detection data that is sourced from the community as well as numerous vendors.

To assist customers in identifying faulty devices in a more expedient manner, the most recent release of Infrastructure Assurance includes an improved analytics dashboard. A new automation that helps predict and address probable hardware and software failures for BlueCat Integrity, Broadcom Symantec, Check Point Secure Gateways, and Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewalls is also included in this development.

These enhanced BlueCat product capabilities and portfolio expansions might help network, DevOps, and security teams deliver fast, flexible, reliable, and secure shared network capabilities.

“Organizations need to modernize their networks or risk falling behind,” said Stephen Devito, CEO at BlueCat. “Our 2023 acquisitions of Indeni and Men&Mice, along with expanded investments in our Integrity and Edge solutions, provide organizations with the flexibility and control necessary to manage, build on, and secure their networks so they can achieve their goals. Our customers are realizing the benefits of transforming their network infrastructure from an inflexible utility to one that’s optimized for change.”
