Paula Cogan, the CEO of euNetworks, highlighted the strategic importance of Belgium as a growing digital hub.

euNetworks, a prominent bandwidth infrastructure company in Western Europe, has announced the expansion of its network with a new duct and fiber-based network in Brussels, marking a significant stride in its development efforts across the Benelux region. This addition brings the company’s total to 18 owned and operated metropolitan networks in Europe.

The expansion in Brussels follows the acquisition of a 1,660-kilometer fiber network last year, which included unique routes throughout the city and extended long haul routes across Belgium. This acquisition not only enhanced euNetworks‘ existing network but also unlocked new investment opportunities for the company in adjacent geographies and in developing a new city network in Brussels, ensuring customers enjoy a seamless end-to-end network experience.

The new Brussels network encompasses 41 kilometers of duct and high-fiber count cables, connecting five major data centers from day one. These include LCL Brussels-North, several facilities operated by Digital Realty, and the AtlasEdge Brussels site. The network architecture would ensure multiple, diverse entry points to these on-net data centers, with plans to expand connectivity as customer demand increases. The network is designed to provide robust services such as dark fiber, long haul, metro wavelengths, and ethernet-based services, featuring four diverse 100G Ethernet nodes that would enhance network resiliency and redundancy.

IoT and Generative AI

This strategic development also facilitates seamless connectivity between Brussels’ data centers and other regional hubs and clusters in cities like Ghent, Antwerp, Charleroi, and Saint Ghislain. The network offers multiple long haul connectivity options, stemming from Brussels, further enhancing its integration into the broader European network landscape.

Paula Cogan, the Chief Executive Officer of euNetworks, highlighted the strategic importance of Belgium as a growing digital hub. “Belgium is at the forefront of supporting emerging technology trends such as IoT and Generative AI, which are pivotal in driving cloud adoption and strategic IT infrastructure decisions,” said Cogan. She further emphasized the company’s leadership role in providing critical infrastructure within Europe, particularly in high-demand regions known as FLAP – Frankfurt, London, Amsterdam, and Paris.

euNetworks’ ongoing commitment to the densification of its network would be evident in its continuous investment in high-bandwidth solutions that meet the evolving needs of their customers. “We are proud of our rapid progress, rolling out our eighteenth metro network within a remarkably short timeframe,” Paula Cogan added, noting the expansion of the company’s local operations and sales presence to better support customer infrastructure developments.

euNetworks owns and operates deep fiber networks across 18 European cities and possesses a distinctive long haul network that spans over 45,000 route kilometers across 17 countries. Specializing in high-capacity broadband connectivity, euNetworks continues to grow through strategic partnerships and investments, focusing on new technologies and the expansion of its unique fiber network to better serve the complex needs of its customers in the region.
