In response to the increasing need for data to be simpler, faster, and easier to manage, Percona, a leader in enterprise-grade open source database software, support, and services, has announced the hiring of Liz Warner as its new Chief Technology Officer.
With decades of technical and senior leadership experience, as well as a track record of successfully leading organizational reforms, Warner is an industry veteran who joins Percona. In her capacity as CTO, she will be crucial to the creation and execution of Percona’s growing array of database solutions, which will include the eagerly awaited Percona Everest, an open source cloud-native database platform.

Warner most recently oversaw the engineering and product strategy teams as CTO of cloud-native container management startup Weaveworks. She has over ten years of experience working as a CTO for many companies and sectors, such as Clim8 Invest, Nationwide for Business, Motion Picture Solutions, Mettle, LendInvest, and Toyota Connected. She brings her expertise to Percona.
Warner’s arrival coincides with a Percona strategic moment. Following a historic 2023 that included consistent client growth, numerous major award victories, and numerous cutting-edge product improvements, Percona is well-positioned to strengthen its standing as the leading supplier of open source database systems and support services in the coming months and years.
Vadim Tkachenko, the longtime CTO and co-founder of Percona, has decided to leave his executive role in order to take on new responsibilities as Percona’s Technology Fellow. This has led to the hiring of a new executive. Tkachenko will concentrate on Percona’s participation in the Linux Foundation’s Valkey Community, the development of vector databases, and other cutting-edge technologies in his role as Technology Fellow.
