Louis Ryan has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Solo.io, a global service mesh platform company.

Prior to joining Solo.io, Louis Ryan spent 16 years at Google, where he held the position of Principal Engineer and Member of Technical Staff.

During his tenure at Google, Ryan co-founded the Istio project, a widely adopted service mesh solution, and co-created the gRPC standard. He also played a crucial role in managing API and microservices infrastructure for Google’s consumer-facing APIs. Now, Ryan will leverage his extensive experience and leadership in Istio to accelerate the adoption of Solo.io’s service mesh platform among enterprise companies.

While joining Solo.io, Ryan will continue to serve as a member of the Istio Technical Oversight Committee. In his new role, he will work closely with Solo.io’s largest customers, providing guidance and support, and lead the office of the CTO.
