Firefly, a cloud startup based in Israel, has secured $23 million in Series A funding despite the tragic loss of its co-founder, CTO Sefi Genis, who was killed in the Hamas attack on October 7. The company’s CEO, Ido Neeman, expressed the team’s determination to build on Genis’ legacy.
Firefly offers a Cloud Control Plane solution designed for DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), and Platform Engineering teams.
The platform helps users rediscover their cloud infrastructure, manage codified and unmanaged assets, detect drifts to prevent service failures, and maintain a comprehensive inventory across multi-cloud and Kubernetes environments.
Infrastructure as Code
Founded in 2021 by CEO Ido Neeman, CPO Eran Bibi, and the late Genis, Firefly’s platform includes an IaC-agnostic code generation engine and an advanced ops-focused cloud scanner.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automates the management and provisioning of technology infrastructure through machine-readable scripts, rather than physical hardware configuration or interactive configuration tools. By codifying infrastructure, IaC would enable consistent, repeatable, and scalable deployments, enhancing efficiency and reducing errors. It supports version control, enabling teams to track changes and collaborate effectively.
The newly acquired funds will be used to expand the Firefly team and enhance support for additional use cases faced by their target audience. This development marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to grow and innovate despite the challenges faced.
