Singapore Boosts Green Data Center Efforts with 300 MW for AI Demands

Singapore is actively increasing its green data initiatives, aiming to add 300 megawatts of power to accommodate the growing AI-driven demands.

In a discussion with Dr. Jen Puer, Senior Minister of State for Communications, and Mr. Wong W. Main, Chair of SG Tech and CEO of Keppel Data Centres, the focus was on the sustainability of data centers which are essential to the digital economy. They emphasized the need for data centers to be energy and water efficient due to their significant resource consumption.

The government’s roadmap includes making these facilities greener and more resource-efficient, aiming for an additional 200 megawatts through green energy solutions. This initiative aligns with Singapore’s commitment to reducing CO2 emissions and addressing global energy challenges, potentially setting a standard for future global practices in sustainable data center operations.
