Accenture to Acquire Italian Network Services Company Fibermind

Accenture (NYSE: ACN) has announced its intent to acquire Fibermind, a network services company based in Italy specializing in the deployment of fiber and mobile 5G networks, along with infrastructure engineering services. This strategic move aims to bolster Accenture’s network services capabilities and expand its offerings to clients across various industries such as telecommunications, utilities, and transportation.

Fibermind, headquartered in Rovigo, Italy, operates nationwide and brings over 20 years of experience serving both public and private sector clients. The company would boast a robust partner ecosystem and maintains long-standing relationships with national authorities and municipalities. Additionally, Fibermind has established strong client connections with Italy’s major mobile and fiber network operators.

Mauro Macchi, President and CEO of Accenture in Italy, highlighted the strategic nature of the acquisition, stating, “The acquisition of Fibermind reaffirms Accenture’s commitment to continuously invest in strategic acquisitions that support and accelerate our clients’ transformations across key industry sectors in Italy. As a result of the acquisition, we will expand our capabilities to offer end-to-end network engineering services, delivering higher quality, greater innovation, and more rigorous cost management to our clients.”

This acquisition will integrate more than 400 highly qualified professionals from Fibermind into Accenture Operations. These professionals bring expertise in various domains, including network design, permits management, technical office and local directive project management office (PMO) work, network acceptance testing, network documentation, and home connection.

Roberto Pagella, who leads Accenture Operations in Italy, emphasized the significance of this expertise, stating, “This acquisition will significantly strengthen our expertise in the telecommunications network engineering services, boosting our growth in a strategic sector for the country. The synergies with Fibermind will allow us to create a center of excellence in engineering services where technology and data enhance and amplify human skills and knowledge.”

Accenture’s Previous Acquisitions in Europe

By combining forces, Accenture and Fibermind would offer clients enhanced network engineering capabilities, deep industry knowledge, and advanced technology assets powered by automation, robotics, data, and AI. Andrea Targa, General Manager of Fibermind, expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, “We welcome the opportunity to grow by joining Accenture and becoming part of its global network. The combination of our expertise and capabilities represents an important opportunity for us to strengthen our leadership in Italy and to expand outside the country. Four years ago, we started on a path with our parent company, Maticmind, to excel at ICT and to focus on enabling digital transformation for our clients. Accenture shares this commitment to clients and innovation, so together we’ll enable speed and quality in delivering engineering services.”

This acquisition would align with Accenture’s previous acquisitions in Europe, including Arca, AFD.TECH, and umlaut, which aimed at enhancing the company’s infrastructure engineering scale and capability for 5G and fiber networks in the region.

The terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. The completion of the acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including the necessary antitrust clearances.
