Flexential, Wasabi Enhance IP Bandwidth with Bilateral Peering Pathway

Flexential has announced a new bilateral peering pathway with Wasabi Technologies, enhancing its FlexAnywhere Platform and connectivity ecosystem. This pioneering development would offer digital enterprises additional IP Bandwidth options and premium connectivity, enabling more efficient data transfers from Flexential’s colocation or cloud environments to Wasabi’s cloud storage services.

This new interconnection capability is accessible to any customer utilizing Wasabi cloud storage services over Flexential’s IP Bandwidth across all 41 Flexential data centers and service locations in the U.S. The peering relationships have been strategically deployed in major metro areas, including Ashburn, VA; Plano, TX; and Hillsboro, OR, ensuring broad geographic coverage.

High-performance and mission-critical applications in today’s digital environment require fast, reliable, secured connectivity that can grow in size and cost efficiently. Problems with networks, like outages and incorrect routing, usually happen between networks. Over time, Flexential’s bilateral peering method claims to provide improved performance and reliability by reducing the need to cross several networks.

The bilateral peering capability with Wasabi is designed to provide a premium Internet experience, eliminating the additional costs and complexities of establishing private connections. This direct connectivity would allow Flexential customers to transfer data to Wasabi storage services without the need for traffic egress to an Internet Service Provider (ISP), resulting in significantly improved performance.

Scaling High-Performance Applications

Key benefits for users of the peering pathway would include the following:

  • Enhanced performance through reduced reliance on intermediary networks, achieving low latency.
  • Cost-effectiveness by avoiding the costs associated with deploying private connections. Wasabi’s pricing model, which excludes egress fees and API request charges, ensures predictably priced, high-performance cloud storage.
  • Improved security posture by optimizing traffic routes, reducing exposure to potential threats.
  • Technical simplicity for Flexential IP Bandwidth customers, requiring no technical changes to access the peering network.

“Enterprises today are seeking high-capacity, reliable networks as they scale their high-performance applications, from AI to data-intensive cloud offerings. That’s why Flexential is constantly expanding its interconnection services, and our peering connection to Wasabi is the latest innovation aimed at unlocking value for customers across the U.S.,” said Ryan Mallory, Chief Operating Officer at Flexential. “Partnering to deliver this best-in-class interconnection experience reflects our joint commitment to innovation and enabling reliable, cost-effective traffic exchange.”

Highly connected digital applications require consistent access to networks, content providers, and exchange participants. Peering ensures low-latency connections that optimize routes, reduce physical distance, and provide greater control and predictability over latency.

“Wasabi and partners like Flexential are committed to providing organizations with fast, secure, and reliable cloud solutions so companies can focus on innovating without worrying about cloud storage bills or slow performance,” said Jim Donovan, Chief Product Officer at Wasabi. “Wasabi and Flexential empower businesses to affordably store the data that propels their operations.”

This bilateral peering initiative is part of Flexential’s broader strategy to expand and innovate its FlexAnywhere Platform. It follows several significant interconnection announcements, including the launch of Flexential Fabric, a software-defined interconnection solution. By utilizing Flexential Fabric to access Wasabi cloud storage environments, customers can dynamically scale their connectivity and provision dedicated connections for segmented storage traffic, further optimizing performance.

Flexential’s ongoing commitment to enhancing its connectivity services through strategic partnerships like the one with Wasabi Technologies underscores its dedication to providing secure, high-performance data center solutions. This latest development not only benefits existing customers but also positions Flexential as a leader in the evolving landscape of cloud storage and connectivity services.
