Global digital operator VEON, providing converged connectivity and digital services to nearly 160 million customers, has announced the relocation of its headquarters from Amsterdam, the Netherlands, to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The move, approved by VEON’s board of directors, reflects a strategic shift in the company’s focus, with Dubai emerging as its operational hub since early 2022.
By establishing its headquarters in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), VEON will become the largest Nasdaq-listed company headquartered in the UAE.
Kaan Terzioglu, Group CEO of VEON, emphasized the significance of the relocation, noting that it aligns with the company’s goal to be closer to its core markets. “Dubai offers numerous strategic advantages, such as proximity to our business operations, access to top talent, and enhanced visibility among Gulf investors,” said Mr. Terzioglu. The announcement coincided with the start of GITEX Global 2024 this week, a major global technology event hosted in Dubai, marking a new phase in VEON’s expansion.
Connectivity and Digital Services
VEON is a prominent digital operator, serving around 160 million customers across six key regions. The company provides a combination of connectivity and digital services to over 110 million active users each month. With operations spanning areas that cover more than 7% of the global population, VEON aims to drive economic growth and empower communities through its technology-driven services.
VEON’s shares are listed on both Nasdaq and Euronext Amsterdam, highlighting its global reach and commitment to delivering innovative digital solutions to a vast and diverse user base. The headquarters move to Dubai would position VEON for continued growth in a dynamic market.
